Iktomi – the trickster and wisdom seeker – appeared to the great leader as a spider. Iktomi spoke to the Lakota Elder in the sacred language. While he spoke about the cycles of life – man's beginning as an infant, his journey through childhood, and the life of adulthood – he spun a web inside of a hoop of willow. The energy of bad ideas, visions, and dreams will remain trapped in the web while the good passes through the hole in the center.
